The 27th Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Colombia (Señorita Colombia 1979) took place on 15 November 1979 at the Teatro Cartagena in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. María Patricia Arbeláez Peláez, Miss Antioquia, won the title and was crowned by her predecessor Ana Milena Parra. The edition is remembered as one of the last held at the timeworn Teatro Cartagena. Margaux Hemingway notably crossed the runway to directly announce the jury’s verdict and embrace the winner, while presenter Gloria Valencia de Castaño hinted on air that she disagreed.
