Miss Brazil 1996, the 42nd Miss Brasil pageant, was held on April 23, 1996 at the Metropolitan in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was recorded by TV Record and aired on May 4. Renata Bessa (Miss Brazil 1995) crowned Maria Joana Parizotto of Paraná as the winner. The show featured scenography by Max Lopes, direction by Luís Carlos Miele, and performances by Elymar Santos and Enid Sauer’s Ballet, with the presence of Miss Universe 1968 Martha Vasconcellos and former titleholders.
