Miss Intercontinental 1979, the 9th edition of the pageant, was held at the Aruba Concorde Hotel & Casino in Oranjestad, Aruba, on October 6, 1979. Thirty-two delegates competed for the title. Mary Ann Shaughnessy of the USA was crowned Miss Intercontinental 1979 by the outgoing titleholder Elizabeth Reddi of India.
