Miss Intercontinental 1989, the 18th edition, was held at the National Arts Theater in Lagos, Nigeria on March 4, 1989. Hosted by Ben Bruce and Omasan Buwa, 12 delegates competed for the title. Bianca Onoh of Nigeria was crowned Miss Intercontinental 1989 by outgoing titleholder Joan Maynard of Curacao. Several months later, Onoh resigned for personal reasons and was replaced by 1st runner-up Brenda Marte of the Dominican Republic.
