Miss Universe 1957 was the sixth Miss Universe pageant, held at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States, on 19 July 1957. Thirty-two contestants competed, and the show was hosted by Bob Russell and broadcast by CBS. Gladys Zender of Peru won the title, crowned by outgoing Miss Universe Carol Morris of the United States. After the win it emerged Zender was 17, below the pageant’s minimum age of 18, but officials allowed her to keep the crown after being advised she was considered 18 in Peru under an old custom.
