Miss Universe 1993, the 42nd edition, was held on 21 May 1993 at Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, Mexico. Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico was crowned by outgoing titleholder Michelle McLean. The telecast was hosted by Dick Clark with commentary from former Miss Universe winners Cecilia Bolocco and Angela Visser; 79 contestants competed. It was Mexico’s third time hosting and was notable for crowd booing after the Mexican delegate failed to place.
