Miss Universe 1994, the 43rd Miss Universe pageant, was held on 21 May 1994 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, Philippines, with 77 contestants. Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico crowned Sushmita Sen of India, marking India’s first Miss Universe win. The event was presented by Bob Goen, Arthel Neville, and Angela Visser, with performances by Peabo Bryson, the Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company, and Eraserheads. It was broadcast internationally by CBS and in the Philippines by ABS-CBN. Heightened security followed a minor bomb blast outside the venue during rehearsals the day before, though no injuries occurred.
