Miss Universe 2009, the 58th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 2009-08-23 at the Imperial Ballroom, Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas. Eighty-three contestants competed. Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela crowned Stefanía Fernández of Venezuela, marking the first back-to-back Miss Universe titles for a country. The event was hosted by Billy Bush and Claudia Jordan, with performances by Heidi Montag, Flo Rida, Kelly Rowland, and David Guetta. The new eco-friendly Diamond Nexus Peace crown debuted after a fan vote.
