Miss World 1956 was the sixth Miss World pageant, held at the Lyceum Ballroom in London, United Kingdom, on 15 October 1956. Susana Duijm of Venezuela crowned Petra Schürmann of West Germany as Miss World 1956, the first win for West Germany. Twenty-four contestants competed. A mix-up occurred when Betty Lane Cherry of the United States was initially announced as the winner and received the sash, but it was later corrected and she was named first runner-up.
