Miss World 1999, the 49th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 4 December 1999 at Olympia Hall in London, United Kingdom. Hosted by Ulrika Jonsson and Melanie Sykes, the event featured 94 delegates and marked the first time Scotland and Wales fielded separate delegates. Yukta Mookhey of India won the title, crowned by her predecessor Linor Abargil of Israel. The preliminary swimsuit competition took place in Malta. Protesters gathered outside the event, calling it a “sexist cattle market.” Initially planned for Seychelles, other considered hosts included Israel, the United States (MGM Grand Las Vegas), and Ireland before London was chosen.
