Miss World 2005, the 55th edition of Miss World, was held on 10 December 2005 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. María Julia Mantilla of Peru crowned Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland as Miss World 2005. 102 contestants competed, with three fast-track events (Beach Beauty, Miss Talent, and Beauty With a Purpose) whose winners advanced automatically to the Top 15. Vilhjálmsdóttir became the third Icelandic woman to win the title, after 1985 and 1988.
