The 7th edition of Reina Sudamericana (Reina Hispanoamericana) was held on 5 December 1997 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, with 10 contestants from various countries and territories. At the end of the event, Gabriela Vergara of Venezuela crowned her compatriot Patricia Fuenmayor as Reina Sudamericana 1997.
