The 16th edition of Reina Sudamericana was held on October 27, 2006, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, with 15 contestants from various countries and autonomous territories. At the end of the event, Diana Milena Cepeda of Colombia crowned her successor, Francine Eickemberg of Brasil, as Reina Sudamericana 2006. Debuting countries included Spain, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
