Miss Brasil 1989, the 36th edition, was held on 1989-04-01 at the Teatro Silvio Santos in São Paulo. Miss Brasil 1988 Isabel Cristina Beduschi crowned Flávia Cavalcanti of Ceará. The event was recorded in the afternoon and aired in prime time; SBT rebroadcast it the following day during Programa Silvio Santos. It was the last edition hosted by Silvio Santos and the last broadcast by SBT; in 1990 the network dropped the event, and Brazil did not participate in Miss Universe for the first time since 1954.
