Notes

ENFrom edition_translations
Miss Universe 1953 was the second Miss Universe pageant, held on 17 July 1953 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, United States. Hosted by Bob Russell, the event featured 26 contestants, the smallest turnout to date as of 2025. Actress Julie Adams crowned Christiane Martel of France as Miss Universe 1953; Armi Kuusela, Miss Universe 1952, did not crown her successor after relinquishing her title to marry. This edition used the Metallic Bronze Crown designed by Allan Adler, employed only for this year.
