Miss France 1980, the 50th Miss France election, was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Paris on Thursday, 1979-12-27. Thilda Fuller (Miss Tahiti) was initially crowned, succeeding Sylvie Parera (Miss France 1979), but resigned after three days and was replaced by first runner-up Patricia Barzyk (Miss Jura), aged 16, the youngest Miss France. Fuller was given the special title Miss France d’Outre-Mer and later placed in the Top 12 at Miss Universe 1980; Barzyk later became first runner-up at Miss World after a reshuffle. The event was hosted by Louis de Fontenay and Pierre Loctin.
