The 71st Miss France pageant (Miss France 2001) was held on 2000-12-09 at the Salle des Princes, Grimaldi Forum in Monte-Carlo, Monaco—the only time the event has taken place outside France. Broadcast live on TF1, it was hosted by Jean-Pierre Foucault and Geneviève de Fontenay. Élodie Gossuin (Miss Picardie 2000) won, succeeding Sonia Rolland. The show inaugurated Monaco’s new convention center and featured performances by Richard Sanderson (“Reality”), Patricia Kaas, the musical Roméo et Juliette, Sonia Rolland and Patrick Bruel.
