Miss USA 1991, the 40th Miss USA pageant, was held on February 22, 1991 at the Century II Convention Center in Wichita, Kansas, and was broadcast by CBS and KWCH-TV. Kelli McCarty of Kansas was crowned by outgoing titleholder Carole Gist of Michigan, becoming the first Miss USA from Kansas and the third winner to be crowned in her home state. The telecast was hosted by Dick Clark with color commentary by Barbara Eden and Miss USA 1970 Deborah Shelton. It was the second of four years the pageant was staged in Wichita and the first to introduce delegates region by region in the Parade of States. It was also the last year the Miss USA 1st runner-up competed at Miss World; from 1992 a separate pageant selected the U.S. delegate.
