Miss USA 1998, the 47th Miss USA pageant, took place in Shreveport, Louisiana, with preliminaries on March 6 and the final on March 10, 1998. Shawnae Jebbia of Massachusetts won and was crowned by outgoing titleholder Brandi Sherwood of Idaho. J. Eddie Peck hosted, with Ali Landry and Julie Moran providing commentary. She Moves performed during the competition. It was Shreveport’s second consecutive year hosting, and the city also hosted Miss Teen USA later in 1998. The live telecast aired on CBS, produced by Susan Winston and Dan Funk. In a pre-taped segment, Halle Berry received a Distinguished Achievement Award.
