Miss USA 2008, the 57th edition, was held on April 11, 2008, at The AXIS (Planet Hollywood Theatre for the Performing Arts) in Paradise, Nevada. Crystle Stewart of Texas was crowned by outgoing titleholder Rachel Smith of Tennessee and later placed in the Top 10 at Miss Universe 2008. It was the first Miss USA staged in Nevada and the first broadcast in high definition. Donny and Marie Osmond hosted the live telecast, with Finger Eleven performing "Paralyzer"; Rihanna’s "Umbrella" was used for the evening gown segment. The theater has also hosted Miss Universe 1991 and 1996. The result marked the first time in the pageant’s history that two consecutive African American women won the title.
