Miss USA 2012, the 61st Miss USA pageant, was held on 2012-06-03 at The AXIS inside Planet Hollywood Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada, and was televised live on NBC (with Spanish-language coverage on Telemundo). Alyssa Campanella of California crowned Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island, giving the state its first Miss USA title. Culpo later won Miss Universe 2012; per protocol she relinquished the Miss USA crown, and first runner-up Nana Meriwether of Maryland was officially crowned Miss USA on 2013-01-09. For the first time, a finalist’s question was sourced from Twitter.
