Puteri Indonesia 1992 was the first Puteri Indonesia contest organized by Mustika Ratu under the leadership of Mooryati Soedibyo after previously being organized by the government since 1971. The contest was won by Indira Paramarini Soediro (DKI Jakarta). She was slated to represent Indonesia at Miss Universe 1993, but during the pageant’s quarantine period in Mexico she was withdrawn by the government because wearing bikinis was deemed inconsistent with Eastern, particularly Indonesian, culture, and thus she ultimately did not compete.
