The 26th edition of the Reinado Internacional del Café was held on January 10, 1997, in Manizales, Colombia, with 21 contestants from coffee-producing and exporting countries. At the end of the event, outgoing queen Cándida Lara of the Dominican Republic crowned Mónica Chacón of Peru as International Coffee Queen 1997.
