Miss Costa Rica 2017, the 62nd edition of the national pageant, departed from its usual format. Due to schedule constraints and uncertainty over Miss Universe dates, broadcaster Teletica did not hold a traditional competition. Instead, Elena Correa Usuga of Heredia, first runner-up in 2016, was directly selected and later crowned. The coronation took place at Estudio Marco Picado in San José and was streamed on Teletica.com on 2017-07-18. Correa succeeded Carolina Rodríguez and earned the right to represent Costa Rica at Miss Universe 2017.
