Notes

ENFrom edition_translations
Miss France 1940 was the 16th edition of the Miss France competition. Joséphine Ladwig, Miss Alsace 1939, won the title, becoming the first Miss Alsace to be crowned Miss France and the last winner before the war. After her reign, the pageant was halted for six years and resumed in 1947 by Guy Levy (“Rinaldo”) and Louis Poirot (“De Fontenay”), partner of Geneviève de Fontenay. There were 39 contestants, and the winning region was Alsace.
